David C. Morse Jr. ’63

David C. Morse Jr. ’63 died peacefully on January 25 at his home in Bellingham, Washington, where he was born. He attended Bellingham High School, where he played tennis. He attended Dartmouth for three years and completed his college education at Western Michigan University, majoring in accounting. He went on to receive an M.B.A. at the University of Washington. “D.C.” served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army until 1969, when he went to work for nearby Boeing. In 1968 he married Suzanne and had three children with her. Sadly, she died in 1980. In 1974 he and a partner bought the Blythe Plumbing and Heating Co. in Bellingham and he became the sole owner in 1992. He managed and expanded the local company until 2003, when he sold the business to his son and other employees. D.C. met his future second wife, Jan, on the nearby ski slopes and they were married in 1985. D.C. was active in the Bellingham area, skiing and boating in Alaska and Canada, and served on the board of the Rotary Club of Bellingham Foundation. Upon retirement he and Jan traveled extensively in Africa and South America, rafted the Grand Canyon, and spent time in their condo near Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. D.C. is survived by Jan, three children, one stepdaughter, and three grandchildren.
