David Alan Drexler ’52

David Alan Drexler ’52 passed away on November 26, 2023, in Jupiter, Florida. David was born on December 25, 1930, in New York. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School as class valedictorian and from Dartmouth, where he was an editor of The Dartmouth and a member of Tau Epsilon Phi. He then graduated from Yale Law School. He met his future wife, Judie Segal, at Mount Holyoke College and they married shortly after their respective graduations. David served in the Coast Guard before starting his law career in Wilmington, Delaware. He clerked for the Hon. Edwin Steel of the U.S. District Court of Delaware and had a brief stint with a law firm in New York City before returning to Wilmington as an associate and later partner at Morris, Nichols, Arsht, and Tunnell. David served his community in many roles, including heading the Shipley Elementary School PTA, chairing the board of the Kutz Senior Living Campus, and as a member of the Delaware Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. David was coauthor of the widely cited treatise on Delaware corporate law: Delaware Corporation Law and Practice. He was also a founding member of the board of editors of The Delaware Lawyer magazine. David retired from the practice of law in 1990 and began the transition from snowbird to permanent resident of Jupiter. David is survived by Judie, sons Larry and Andy and their spouses, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
