Daniel D. Nixon ’55

Daniel D. Nixon ’55, M.D., passed away on January 18 in Miami Beach, Florida. He is survived by Tamara, his wife of 62 years, son Asa ’84, and daughters Victoria ’90 and Naomi. Born in Los Angeles, Dan came to Dartmouth from New Castle (Pennsylvania) High School. Dan majored in English and took a premed program of courses. He was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi and the rowing club. Dan earned his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his internship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He was drafted into the Army as chief of medicine for the 12th Evacuation Hospital in Cu Chi, Vietnam. After leaving the Army, Dan became chief of hematology and oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.
