Danforth “Dan” Allan Hall ’52

Danforth “Dan” Allan Hall ’52 passed away in Byfield, Massachusetts, on August 10, 2020. Dan was born on February 24, 1930, in Marshfield, Massachusetts, graduated from Marshfield High School, and came to Dartmouth. He graduated in the combined M.B.A. program with Tuck School and was a member of Zeta Psi. After graduation Dan immediately went as an officer into the U.S. Navy, serving aboard ship until 1956. He then embarked on a successful business career as a financial and systems management officer, working for General Motors, the Gillette Co., E.R. Squibb, J.P. Morgan Bank, and Geophysical Systems Corp. All his assignments were in the east, except Geophysical, in California. In later years Dan returned east and consulted on behalf of nonprofit organizations in the United States and internationally. Dan was married to Winifred Loye, a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, from 1954 to 1983. They had children Amy, Ian, and Wendy, who survive him. Dan was an active alumnus, with strong Dartmouth ties. Family members who attended Dartmouth include his late father, Maurice, class of 1919; brother Richard ’53; nephew David ’85; grandnephew Parker ’20; brother-in-law David Loye ’48; uncle John, class of 1924 (deceased); and cousin John ’53 (deceased).
