Curtis Hambleton Richards ’52

Curtis Hambleton Richards ’52 of Westfield, Massachusetts, died peacefully on July 22, 2017, at Heritage Hall East in Agawam, Massachusetts. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 24, 1929, Curt came to Dartmouth after graduating from Williston Academy, where he was a four-year letterman and captain of the baseball team. At Dartmouth Curt was a history-international relations major, member of Sigma Nu and varsity letterman in baseball. He was a longtime resident of Enfield, Connecticut, prior to moving to Westfield. Curt worked for New England Telephone for 30 years and retired in 1985. Curt proudly served our country as sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was the beloved husband of Eileen, who passed away in early 2014. He is survived by son Curtis; daughter Suzanne and her husband, Wayne; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
