Constantinos “Deno” Mokas ’83

Constantinos “Deno” Mokas ’83 died December 11, 2024, after a period of declining health. Deno was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on April 19, 1961, four months after his parents emigrated from Fourka, Greece. He grew up in Manchester and graduated from Central High School, where he was valedictorian and helped win the Class L basketball championship. At Dartmouth Deno also played basketball, majored in economics, joined Kappa Sigma, and became a member of Sphinx. Jim Otto ’83 says, “Deno could get along and talk to anybody (and our ’83 Kappa Sig class had a wide spectrum of personalities and perspectives)! He had a wry and sharp sense of humor, but he would deliver a zinger with that smile, so if you were the butt of the joke, it didn’t seem to bother you much.” Deno returned to Dartmouth to earn an M.B.A. at the Amos Tuck School of Business in 1990 and went on to have a long, successful career in banking and investment management. Deno was constantly in motion. He coached his kids’ teams; golfed on courses throughout the world; and biked, skied, and kayaked with anyone brave enough to join his adventures. Retiring in 2021, he and his wife of 39 years, Beth, moved to Maine, where he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity Restore, found friendship among a special pickleball gang, and walked the beach with his dog Mulligan. He is survived by Beth and children Anna, Elias, and George.
