Clifford S. Evans Jr. ’54

Clifford S. Evans Jr. ’54 passed away January 31 in Pacific Palisades, California. Cliff came to Dartmouth from Essex Fells, New Jersey, and Montclair Academy. He was an art major and member of Phi Kappa Psi. A few days following graduation Cliff married Mary-Anne and then began a two-year stint in the Army at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where they started married life. After his Army service they returned to Essex Fells, where Cliff began his career in building and real estate. In 1965 Cliff joined Litton Industries in its corporate real estate department, overseeing Litton’s property and construction, which took him throughout the United States and Europe. The travel enabled him to enjoy skiing, which he had taken up while in Hanover. He said, “With some imaginative travel scheduling, I have been able to exhibit my unique ski technique in some exotic ski areas.” Predeceased by Mary-Anne in 2005, Cliff then married Joanne, who predeceased him in 2020. Cliff lived the remainder of his years in Palos Verde, California, surrounded by children Stuart, Leisa, and Pam; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
