Class Note 1938
As I write this, it is April. When you read this, it will be June. The class of 2011 has moved on to the start of the next leg of their journey well prepared for its opportunities and challenges and taking with them all the experiences they have gained in the last four years. Not so much different than the amazing class of 1938 73 years ago. Seems like only yesterday and yet there is as much different as there is there is the same. The world is a different place these 73 years later. Our very best wishes for a successful life goes with all of them. Commencement was June 12!
I have no news. Let me rephrase that—I have news, but certainly not what any of us wants to hear. We have lost three amazing gentlemen of Dartmouth: Robert “Bob” Phillips Hennick from Fort Myers, Florida, in February; Rolliston “Rollie” Woodbury Linscott Jr. from Longboat Key, Florida, in July 2010; and Richard “Dick” Turnbull Holt from Bloomfield, Connecticut, in December 2010. I look back at reunions and I am pleased to have them among my memories. Deepest sympathy to their families from their classmates and friends of the class of 1938.
Crazy as it may sound, 75 years “out” will be coming in two years—2013! With that I give you a lot of time to make ready for the festivities. So on that note, stay healthy and wise, start getting in shape, and remember: I think of you all with fond (fond!) memories.
