View All Notes for Class of 1999Hello, ’99s!
I hope you’re making the most of the warmer weather and longer days of spring (for most of us, at least!). This update centers on two authors in our class.
First, Ram Murali made the news with an award-winning book, Death in the Air. This thriller follows Ro Krishna, an Indian American lawyer in London who lost his high-profile job under mysterious circumstances. Ro checks into Samsara, a world-class spa in the Indian Himalayas for a much-needed break but finds himself in the middle of a murder mystery. Ram adds that his time at Dartmouth influenced his book and he dedicated it in part to Dartmouth friends who have died, including Phatiwe Cohen.
Billy Wynne has also written a book, called The Empty Path. This book is described as a how-to guide to make the most of life through the Buddhist principle of emptiness. He presents the “art of lessening” by appreciating the depth and beauty of each moment. This builds on 30 years of Buddhism and mindfulness. Billy and his family live in Colorado, are moving to Carbondale in the summer, and his daughter is a first-year student at Cornell.
That’s all the news for now. Enjoy the rest of spring and I look forward to sharing more updates with you soon!
