Class Note 1999

January-February 2026

Class Note 1999. Happy New Year, ’99s! I hope you made the most of the holiday season and that 2026 is off to a good start.
It is safe to say that 2025 was a year many of us will never forget. We saw the return of President Trump, the end of the Israel-Gaza conflict (or at least freedom of the hostages), a government shutdown, and Dartmouth placed at the heart of a debate on academic freedom and university funding. Let’s hope that 2026 goes more smoothly.
David Kung wrote that he and his wife, Nelanyely Yecerra, welcomed their third child into the world. Lia Evangeline Kung Yecerra was born on 6 October in New York City. Lia’s brothers Jean Emmanuel Alcala Yecerra (age 7) and Gael David Kung Yecerra (age 2) were excited to see their baby sister. Congratulations to David and his family!
Elizabeth Rozumek Hammock also wrote in with news. In 2022 Elizabeth cofounded the Baldwin Family Village Foundation, which is the fundraising arm for Baldwin County, Alabama’s first and only transitional housing program for homeless women and children. Elizabeth spearheads fundraising and grant-writing efforts to fund $550,000 in annual operating costs. Elizabeth lives in Fairhope, Alabama, with her husband, Wells, and their sons Bowdoin, a high school senior who is following in dad’s footsteps and heading to Auburn University next fall, and Riggins, a high school sophomore his mother is still trying to convince to head to Hanover in fall 2028.
Finally, for those reminiscing about our lives at Dartmouth, I, with help from several ’99s, put together a Spotify playlist of the music so many of us heard. You can listen for yourself at https://tinyurl.com/dartmouth99music. This is a living list, so if there are any other songs or albums I should add, let me know!
That’s all the news for now. I hope you all have a brilliant and unforgettable year, and I look forward to sharing more news with you soon!
