Charles Root Parsons ’59

Charles Root Parsons ’59 died on August 8, 2016. He entered Dartmouth from Deerfield Academy. He majored in history and was a member Psi Upsilon. He was also a member of Army ROTC and served as a lieutenant in the Army following graduation. In 1961 Chuck joined Parsons & Associates, an insurance agency founded by his father in Syracuse, New York, and served as a certified insurance counselor with that firm for more than 40 years, during which the firm grew dramatically. Sons John and Robert continue the family leadership of the firm. Chuck was active in a number of civic organizations in the Syracuse area and served as president of the trustees of the Syracuse Rescue Mission. He was also active in the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Central New York and served on the Dartmouth Alumni Council. He leaves his wife of almost 55 years, Elfriede, two sons and one daughter and their spouses, and five grandchildren.
