Charles D. Winslow ’57

Charles D. Winslow ’57 passed away peacefully on October 10, 2019, at home in Columbus, Ohio. “Chick” graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia, where he led the basketball team to the 1953 state championship against Overbrook, led by Wilt Chamberlain. At Dartmouth he majored in economics, played basketball, and was in Beta Theta Pi and Navy ROTC. He served as an officer in the Navy and earned an M.B.A. from Michigan in 1961. Chick went to work for Andersen Consulting, known as Accenture. He opened the Columbus consulting division in 1967, made partner in 1970, ran a division of the Tokyo office in the 1980s, and capped his career as head of Accenture’s worldwide change management practice, retiring in 1995. Wherever he lived Chick played a role in the community. He was chairman of the board of the American School in Japan. He led the capital campaign of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Columbus. Chick supported Dartmouth as alumni fund volunteer and head agent, a member of the reunion giving committee, admissions interviewer, and local club president. After retirement, winters were spent in Vero Beach, Florida, the fall in Frisco, Colorado, and summers in Columbus. He was a great tennis player and an avid golfer. Chick is survived by his wife, Nan; sons Charlie ’82, Steve, Jon ’87, and Sam ’94; daughters-in-law; and seven grandchildren. All remember him as the best of men.
