Calvin R. Dyer ’58

Calvin R. Dyer ’58, Ph.D., died February 9 in Tennessee. Cal grew up in Westbrook, Maine. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and was a brother at Gamma Delt. He served as a Marine officer and earned a master’s and a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University. Cal was a professor of English at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, and served as dean. Cal’s son, Calvin, said, “We had him here in Nashville for [the last] eight years.” Cal’s wife, Margaret, predeceased him and he is survived by a daughter and three sons.
