Bruce Bokor ’76 of Northampton, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly May 28, 2014, at his home. After Dartmouth Bruce went on to be a lifelong scholar, with a probing and compassionate intellect. He was a gifted athlete and at one time considered pursuing a career in professional soccer. Bruce was a member of River Valley Market, a fan of local libraries, a participant in events at Pioneer Valley Shambhala Center and a member of the congregation of B’Nai Israel. Bruce’s friends knew him as a sensitive and compassionate companion and ally and delighted in his sense of humor, theatricality and playful engagement with life. Friends were inspired by his wide variety of interests and creative spirit. Bruce was an adept potter. He loved music, learning about people, NPR, The New York Times and playing chess. He was a great storyteller. Bruce explored his world with intelligence, depth and a big heart.
