Brian Sean Fitzpatrick ’82

Brian Sean Fitzpatrick ’82 of Centreville, Virginia, died on December 4, 2018. Brian grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from North Kingstown (Rhode Island) Senior High School in 1978. At Dartmouth he played intramural rugby and baseball. Brian was a member of Tabard, serving as vice president. He worked at Thayer Dining Hall and the Hanover Inn. Brian was a member of the Dartmouth Conservative Union and the World Affairs Council. He spent a term in Germany as part of the language study abroad program and worked as a summer intern for Rhode Island Sen. Claiborne Pell in Washington, D.C. Brian graduated with a degree in government and moved to the D.C. area. He built a career emphasizing persuasive writing, reporting, public speaking, editing, and research. Brian worked for the Heritage Foundation and Accuracy in Academia. He took great delight in teaching a children’s Bible school class at Cherrydale Baptist Church on Sundays. Classmate Hugh Rauscher remarked, “Brian was a great guy, fun to be around, and a great friend.” Classmate Jim Howe added that Brian was “a guy with a big heart and good sense of humor. We had him play goalie on our Tabard-Zeta Psi hockey team, where he performed admirably with no prior experience. Always kind, humble, and a good sport.” Brian is survived by his parents, Louis and Patricia Fitzpatrick, sister Kerry, fiancée Trinka, and numerous nieces and nephews.
