Tanguy Nef ’20 made history on February 9, 2026, in the Winter Olympic debut of the men’s team combined Alpine skiing, winning gold for Switzerland with partner Franjo von Allmen. The new event combines a top downhill skier, von Allmen, with a top slalom skier, Nef. The Big Green alum was instrumental in the victory, turning in the best time for his run.
Nef, who says he discovered his athletic potential while at Dartmouth, is the first Olympian from Dartmouth to medal in these Games. But, with more than a dozen Dartmouth grads and students on various national teams, there may be more.
I grew up in the mountains and appreciate the freedom they give you—the feeling of gliding and just going anywhere you want. What has transformed into my professional career was this quest of trying to improve every day, getting to know my limits, and pushing those boundaries every day.” —Tanguy Nef
