Designer Mindset

Joseph Catrino joins the newly expanded and renamed Center for Career Design.

Earlier this year Joseph Catrino took the helm at the newly expanded and renamed Center for Career Design to help students see themselves as the designers of their careers and their lives. The center, which provides one-on-one coaching, launched a Sophomore Summer program—five weeks of career and life design training, while students also connect with employers for four weeks.

Previously founding executive director of career and life design at Trinity College in Connecticut, Catrino notes the Dartmouth center relies heavily on the alumni network to provide jobs and local or remote internships. “I’m really encouraged by what they’ve offered to us,” he says. By early 2026 he expects the center will offer services to all alumni as well.
