At the Polls
Officials estimate that 2,300 students voted in Hanover on November 5.

In the Swim
The College has waived all fees for beginner swimming classes. Any student can participate for free.

Conversion
The College hopes to renovate the Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse as part of efforts to reduce inequity issues between the men’s and women’s locker rooms. Plans call for $3.6 million to add 2,800 square feet to the facility.

’Tis the Season
President Sian Beilock flipped the switch at the annual Christmas tree lighting December 6.

On the Runway
Indigenous fashion, creativity, expression, and design took center stage at the sixth annual Indigenous People’s Fashion Show in October at the Hood Museum.

Show of Hands
Students can now enter the Class of 1953 Commons with a flash of their hand, thanks to new palm biometric scanners.

Sad News
Hanover police have determined no hazing occurred in the drowning of Won Jang ’26 in July. However, two fraternity members and Alpha Phi sorority have been charged with underage alcohol offenses, allegedly for actions at a party the night of Jang’s death.

Back to Class
David Kotz ’86 ended his three-year tenure as provost in June. Following a sabbatical, he’ll return to his role as a professor in the computer science department.

Salute to Service
Army veteran Jackson Donavon ’25, a government major and president of the College’s undergrad veterans association, helped oversee several events to mark Veterans Day in November.

Time Out
Players on the women’s basketball team have decided not to join forces with the men’s team and unionize. 

It Adds Up
More than 150 young math scholars attended the math department’s Algebraic Geometry Northeastern Series conference in November.

Ring Out The Old
Dartmouth is phasing out its traditional class ring design, which includes two Native Americans, the Lone Pine, and Dartmouth Hall, in favor of a new Lone Pine design. Some students are buying rings early to get the old design while they can. 

Club Winners
Tennis, powerlifting, baseball, and men’s rugby had terrific fall seasons, including an Ivy championship for the weightlifters.  

Tech Pioneer
Thomas Kurtz, coinventor of BASIC programming language and longtime computer science professor, died in November. He was 96.

Cold Comfort
All students can borrow winter clothes as well as ice skates and showshoes for no charge from Dartmouth Outdoor Rentals.
