Arthur K. Koff Jr. ’57

Arthur K. Koff Jr. ’57 passed away on February 2. Art graduated from Francis W. Parker High School in Chicago. At Dartmouth he majored in sociology. He did postgraduate work at the University of Chicago executive program. Art started his career with the Chicago Sun-Times. In 1968 he joined Bentley, Barnes & Lynn advertising agency and seven years later was promoted to vice president. He spent 35 years in recruitment communications with national and international advertising agencies. He built a suite of more than 1,000 discipline- and geographic-specific job sites and helped employers with recruiting strategies. In 2003 Art founded Retired Brains, a destination for seniors and retirees designed to connect employers with experienced people who were not interested in being fully retired. He wrote a reference guide for seniors, Invent Your Retirement: Resources for the Good Life. The class benefitted from his tips on aging, which he posted regularly on the ’57 listserv. Art and his wife, Norma, lived on the 57th floor of a Chicago high-rise with a great view of the city and Lake Michigan. He walked seven blocks to work. They furnished their apartment from various trips abroad. Special pleasures were preparing gourmet meals together and posting recipes on the internet. Art played doubles tennis in the winter and golf during the summer. He was predeceased by Norma.
