Arthur E. Balser Jr. ’60

Arthur E. Balser Jr. ’60 died January 6. He was raised in Danvers, Massachusetts, and graduated from Governor Dummer Academy, where he participated in varsity football and received the most valuable player award his senior year. At Dartmouth he majored in history and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta. Art worked as a manager in the metals fabrication, welding, and machining industry for 35 years with several firms. Then he established Balser Engineering & Consulting with his wife, working as quality consultants in the aerospace and chemical processing industries. He was a lifetime member of the First Universalist Society in Salem, Massachusetts, serving as a trustee board chairperson for several years. He was in DeMolay and a third-degree Mason. He was active from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s in youth activities as a baseball coach and manager in the Danvers Little League and Senior Babe Ruth League. His hobbies included reading, especially history, golf, and traveling with his wife, Diane. Arthur was predeceased by Diane and two brothers. He is survived by two sons and a brother.
