Andrew Whitbeck Aishton ’52 passed away in Fort Myers, Florida, on November 16, 2017, 23 days shy of his 87th birthdate, December 9. Andy grew up in Winnetka, Illinois, and graduated from New Trier Township High School before coming to Dartmouth. At Dartmouth Andy majored in biology, was a member of Gamma Delta Chi and worked for WDBS, the College radio station. Immediately following graduation Andy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in various medical assignments related to his interest and education in biology. Following his military service Andy switched his career path and entered the steel business, working for 23 years for U.S. Steel in a variety of assignments and locations, including Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston and New York City. He then worked for 10 years for Sumitomo Metal America, also in New York, before retiring with his wife, Jeanne, to Fort Myers. He kept busy there with a variety of employers, including a local bank, a security company and a major grocery chain. His wife survives him. Andy comes from strong Dartmouth family connections, including his father, Richard, class of 1918, brothers Richard ’43 and Preston’45 and uncle Preston ’25, who all predeceased him. He is survived by wife Jeanne; children Suzanne, Cameron and William; grandchildren Christopher, Katherine, Jack, Georgia and David; and cousin Preston Kelsey ’58.
