Alec Evan Haag ’70

Alec Evan Haag ’70 of Bennington, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly on January 7 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. He grew up in Ivyland, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He earned his A.B. in history and urban planning from Dartmouth, an M.F.A. from Stanford University in 1975, and later an M.B.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology. His early work was in technical theater and lighting design and his primary career was in operations and supply chain management for manufacturing companies in Rochester and Buffalo, New York, and Hartford, Connecticut. He was an active member of the Greece (N.Y.) Performing Arts Society board and the Greece Athena High School Music Boosters while living in Rochester. He also served on the missions board of the Westside Baptist Church. Evan was a woodworking craftsman, building everything from small boxes and wooden tools to furniture pieces. It gave him great joy to share these pieces and he will be remembered through them. He also loved travel and was an avid kayaker. His good nature and love of family and friends were the real hallmarks of his life. Evan is survived by Moira, his wife of 54 years; brothers John Eric and Gary; children Kristin, Stuart, and Stephanie and their spouses; and nine grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
