Alan Lucas Andersen ’55

Alan Lucas Andersen ’55 died February 13 in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter Jill, son Scott, and grandchildren Austin, Allie, Augie, Cloe, and Lily. Alan came to Dartmouth from Garden City High School in New Jersey. He majored in chemistry-zoology. He was manager and player on the golf team, played in the Dartmouth Band, and was a member of Gamma Delta Chi and Air Force ROTC. After graduation Alan entered Tufts University Medical School, but he left to become a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He flew B47s from Chennault Air Base in Louisiana and received the Air Force Medal of Meritorious Service. He was a captain when he completed eight years of service. Alan then became a pilot for American Airlines and moved to Dallas, retiring at 60.
