Walter Duane Bowman ’67

Walter Duane Bowman ’67 passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2023, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he had been visiting family. Wally came to the College from Huntley, Illinois; majored in mathematics; was a brother of Alpha Delta Phi; and played football for four years. He earned an M.S. in teaching (physics) from Cornell University in 1971 and then earned an M.S. in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. With his first wife, Frances, and their two children, Wally served in the Peace Corps in Kenya from 1971 to 1973 before returning home to embark on an education career in Catholic schools in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri. It was a career that included coaching basketball and football and serving as dean of students and principal for more than 22 years. Wally is survived by Connie, his wife of 24 years; children Monica and Brian and their spouses; siblings Barbara Jean, Bob, and Grace and their spouses; and grandchildren Adam, Rachel, Faith, Joel, and Abigail.
