Roger was president of the first graduating class (1959) of Niskayuna High School, where he was in Boys State and played football. During summers he worked in a lumber mill near Ticonderoga, New York. He attended Dartmouth and graduated from the University of Maine in 1967. Roger worked for the New York State Department of Social Services for 25 years. After retiring he and wife Carol, who was also from Niskayuna, operated a farm.
