Robert Yamins Lider ’71

Robert Yamins Lider ’71 died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest August 18, 2022, in Venice, Italy, just two months after organizing the class 50+1 reunion in Hanover. Bob was born February 15, 1949, in Newton, Massachusetts. Father Edward was a member of the class of ’43. At Dartmouth Bob was a cheerleader and one of the last Indian mascots at football games. He lettered in squash, was an honor student, and spent two terms studying in France. Bob was a protégé of John Rassias and a student instructor in French. After graduating he completed his J.D. at the New England School of Law and earned a master’s in taxation at Boston University. During a long career as an international tax attorney, Bob worked for Westvaco, Citibank, and J.P. Morgan in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Singapore, where he also taught graduate courses in tax law at a local university. After retirement he and his wife, Lisa, remained in Singapore before moving to Naples, Florida, and last year, to Washington, D.C. They were passionate about ballet and Bob served as a trustee of the Washington Ballet Company. His financial support of Dartmouth was matched by the time he devoted to class activities and exceeded only by his love for the College. Bob is survived by Lisa, his wife of 40 years, and an extended family of 800 classmates who cherish the memory of his friendship and honor his decades of service to the class of 1971 and Dartmouth.
