Reginald L. Jones ’63 died on June 20, 2025, in his hometown of Bennington, Vermont. Reg came to Dartmouth from Nether Providence High School in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. In Hanover he majored in economics and was a brother of Tabard. He graduated in 1967 after taking four years off to work for the Green Mountain Race Track near Bennington and serve in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, after being drafted. After completing his Dartmouth education, Reg enrolled at the Wharton School of Business for one term, then switched to the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, obtaining a master’s in education in 1972. He returned to his Wallingford high school as a civics teacher. Reg was involved in the school’s world affairs symposium, a United Nations program; brought student groups to UN events in Washington, D.C., and Boston; and led students on seven international trips. A sabbatical in 1980 enabled Reg and wife Nancy to travel across the United States and Canada; they traveled internationally after he left his teaching position. They returned to Pennsylvania, and Reg taught economics at the local community college before moving to Bennington in 1982. He then worked for Nestech Corp. selling computers and managing computer training and teaching at Community College of Vermont, followed by periods with the National Park Service and Bennington Center for the Arts. He and Nancy divorced in 2000. Reg is survived by his sister Jinny and her family.
