Peter C. Wells ’63

Peter C. Wells ’63 died on August 26, 2025, at his home in Colorado. He was born in Littleton, Colorado, and attended Bear Creek High School, where he was student body president and participated in many sports, including cross-country. At Dartmouth Peter majored in English and ran track and cross-country all four years and was captain as a senior. He was a brother of Bones Gate and a member of Casque & Gauntlet. After attempting to enlist in the Marines after Dartmouth, Pete was drafted into the Army and was sent to U.S. Army intelligence school at Fort Holabird in Baltimore. He was then assigned to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, where he learned Spanish. In what Pete called the most interesting part of his life, he was assigned to Fort Amador in Panama on the Pacific side, beginning 23 months in country. He was reassigned to Fort Gulick on the Caribbean side when Che Guevara was in Panama. After his Army duty, Pete taught Spanish and English at the Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut, then returned to his native Colorado and became a real estate broker in Denver. Pete then worked at founding and managing real estate limited partnerships for the Charter Group in Denver, where he was managing general partner. Pete was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia. He is survived by two children and four grandchildren.
