Frederick Billings Brooks ’54 passed away on February 27 in Sun City Center, Florida. Bill came to Dartmouth from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He attended Moses Brown School. At Dartmouth Bill was sociology major, a brother of Psi Upsilon and a member of the swim team. After graduation he spent two years in the U.S. Army in Europe, serving as an aide-de-camp to a brigadier general. He then spent 19 years in the Army Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. After discharge from active duty he returned to Rhode Island and entered the retail lumber and fuel oil business, forming Newell Fuel and Lumber Co. with Mike Messore ’54. Bill retired as operations manager with Leeds Building Products in 1996 and then moved to Florida. He is survived by his wife, Kimball, and daughters Amy, Barbara and Cynthia.
