David L. Hoffman ’58 , Tu’59, died on March 11 at his home in Stamford, Connecticut. Dave grew up in Orange, New Jersey, and came to Dartmouth from Newark Academy. He majored in English, was a brother at Tri-Kap, served on the Undergraduate Council, and competed on the tennis team his first two years and the track team his last two years. He was part of the Dartmouth-Tuck program, completing his M.B.A. in 1959. After his Army service, Dave had a long career as a commercial real estate broker in Manhattan, which he found “fun, interesting, and financially rewarding.” In 1977 he had open-heart surgery to replace his aortic valve and, in 1990, the replacement valve wore out and had to be replaced. After the first surgery, he reported, “I play tennis just as hard as always, jog regularly, and ski. Hats off to modern medicine!” Dave enjoyed life with his family, with vacation homes in East Hampton, New York; Palm Beach, Florida; and Sun Valley, Idaho. Dave is survived by two sons and two daughters.
