January-February 2026
Charles North Williams ’55 died while swimming in his pool on September 28, 2025. Born in New Britain, Connecticut, on February 11, 1933, he attended New Britain public schools before entering Dartmouth. After graduation Charlie spent three years in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of captain. He was stationed in Tucson, Arizona, and proud to have been trained as a bombardier on B-47 aircraft. After military service he graduated from Cornell University Law School and returned to Connecticut, where he practiced law for 46 years at Camp, Williams, and Richardson in New Britain. Long after retirement, he was known for a willingness to help people with legal advice and loved sharing stories of his life experiences. An avid reader and theatergoer, Charlie skied in his younger days, played golf, exercised at the YMCA, and enjoyed long winter vacations in the Caribbean. As a sports fan he was loyal to New England teams, supporting UConn basketball, the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He was a founding member of a “Retired Old Men Eating Out” breakfast group and a member of Plantsville Congregational Church in nearby Southington. He was a devoted pet owner and a patron of the Meriden Humane Society. Charlie is survived by three children, one stepdaughter, and nine grandchildren.
