James A. Nolan ’78

James A. Nolan ’78 of New Hope, Pennsylvania, died of liver cancer at home on Father’s Day, June 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Jim graduated from Neshaminy High School. At Dartmouth he was a member of Sigma Nu and participated in the Spanish language study abroad program. He was president and co-owner of Tohickon Abstract Co., a family title insurance business in Holicong, Pennsylvania, where he worked since graduating from college. He was highly respected within the title industry, and considered those with whom he had the pleasure of working to be his friends. Jim loved running, bicycling and reading. He coached all his children in soccer at one point or another and enjoyed spending time shouting from the sidelines. He especially loved watching Kenyon College soccer, and continued to follow the team’s progress after his son, Thomas, graduated. Jim was predeceased by his father, James, a fine Irish dancer. In addition to Thomas, he is survived by his mother, Bernita, siblings Patrick (and his wife, Elizabeth), Brendan (and his partner, Joseph) and Carey (and her partner, April), as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.
