Robin Smith Jurado ’79

Robin Smith Jurado ’79 died unexpectedly at her home in Los Angeles on January 1, 2013. Prior to Dartmouth Robin attended the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., which along with the College remained one of her most important touchstones. At Dartmouth Robin majored in psychology and economics and was incredibly active; she was a basketball cheerleader, a member of the Marching Band and the West African Drumming Ensemble, sang in the Gospel Choir and danced in the Black Underground Theater Association Dance Ensemble. Robin was also a Spanish teacher’s assistant and drill instructor. Robin was a devoted mother, loyal wife, director of human resources at Five Acres (the Boys’ and Girls’ Aid Society of Los Angeles), an avid yogini, a great singer and actress and a treasure to her droves of friends. She is survived by her husband, Ray, a Superior Court judge in Los Angeles, children Joshua and Marina, parents Charles and Ellen and sister Tina.
