Josh Morey ’01


Josh Morey ’01 died in Los Angeles on December 18, 2012, after an eight-month battle with melanoma. Born April 26, 1979, Josh embraced life and the people around him. He was a great adventurer whose explorations ranged from far-flung travel and the great outdoors to the hidden gems of city culture. In addition to his Dartmouth friends he was often joined by his loving wife, Christine Kornylak (MIT’99), whom he married in 2006. Daughter Isobel Pepper Morey was born July 13, 2012. Josh received his master’s in architecture from Columbia University. Following graduation Josh joined the architecture firm of Frank Gehry in Los Angeles. During a six-year period at Gehry Partners he worked on a number of important cultural and institutional projects throughout the world, including the designs for Novartis in Basel, Switzerland; Hall Estate winery in Napa, California; Luma Foundation in Arles, France; and Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota; as well as projects in Istanbul, Hong Kong and many other locales. In 2009 Josh founded LePair Morey Studio, a full-service design firm in Los Angeles. The firm focused on innovative residential projects in the Los Angeles area. Throughout his career Josh embraced innovation, originality and creativity in his elegant and beautiful designs. Josh is survived by his wife, daughters, parents Pamela and Ed, brothers Toby and Jesse and a community of friends forever grateful for his presence in their lives.
