Philip Lloyd Fisher ’63

Philip Lloyd Fisher ’63, a lawyer and businessman, died March 27. He resided in Lexington, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth Phil was a brother of Alpha Chi Rho and member of the Glee Club, Green Key and lightweight crew. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and went on to the London School of Economics, where he was also stroke of the University of London heavyweight crew. After receiving a law degree at Stanford, Phil returned to Cleveland, Ohio, immersing himself in the historic mayoral campaign of Carl Stokes. He then moved to New York and joined Holtzman, Wise & Shepard, practicing securities law for their primary client, Allen & Co., where he helped the investment bank bring more than 100 companies public. In 1974 Phil married Laura Gordon, then a Ph.D. candidate at Harvard and resident dean at Eliot House. Laura’s lifelong affiliation with Harvard afforded them a close association with the school, while Phil’s professional career focused on corporate law and venture investing. Phil, Laura and their son Adam moved to Lexington, where Phil became active coaching baseball and Laura dedicated her efforts to the local synagogue. Phil and Laura participated in these efforts together and with Adam shared a lifelong passion for baseball. Adam is now affiliated with the New York Mets. Phil also continued his rowing as a member of the Cambridge Boat Club and volunteer for the Head of the Charles Regatta. In addition to Laura and Adam, Phil is survived by daughter-in-law Caren, grandson Brady, mother Ruth and brothers Christopher ’65 and Jeff.
