Augustus K. Pratt Jr. ’66

Augustus K. Pratt Jr. ’66, better known as “Buzz,” passed away November 7, 2021, after a nine-month stay at Bay Square Senior Living Community in Yarmouth, Maine. Buzz was born in Hanover and after Dartmouth served four years in the U.S. Navy as a naval officer before going to law school at Boston University. Buzz married Nancy DeBard in 1968. They moved in 1974 to Fryeburg, Maine, where they started and grew their law practice and family—including daughter Rebecca and son Douglas—through the years. Buzz enjoyed camping with his family, fly fishing, and trains and building model train sets. He took and developed thousands of pictures in his dark room. A history buff, he enjoyed a spirited debate over political topics. After 45 years of marriage, Nancy died of cancer in 2013. Buzz later found Roxy, who adopted him into her family and provided new experiences. Buzz will be missed for his wit, charm, humor, and sage advice.
