John B. McCloskey ’58

John B. McCloskey ’58, Tu’59, Th’59,passed away July 18, 2022. John came to Dartmouth from Newark, New Jersey, was a brother at Delta Upsilon, and earned an M.B.A. and M.S. in the Tuck-Thayer five-year program. After three years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Indiana, he worked in management for New Jersey Bell Telephone (now Bell Atlantic) until retiring in 1989. Drawing on his experience in finance and at Bell Labs, John enjoyed a number of years as an independent consultant and also taught math at a local school. John served as president of his regional alumni club in the 1960s, interviewed applicants for admission, and was active with the alumni fund in recent years. He and his wife were great fans of Phantom of the Opera and other Broadway musicals. In the class 25th reunion book, John wrote, “There is much to decide in life as to what is truth and what is fiction. But without the Dartmouth experience I would be totally lost.” His wife, Linda, a daughter, and four sons survive.
