Phillip B. Stoddard ’58

Phillip B. Stoddard ’58, M.D., passed away peacefully at home on March 10. Phil grew up in Batavia, New York, and spent his adult years in Springfield, Massachusetts. He majored in zoology, was a Kappa Kappa Kappa brother and sang with the Glee Club and Injunaires. After medical school at the University of Rochester, he was a surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and then specialized in plastic surgery. His proudest achievement was the Cleft Lip & Palate Clinic in Springfield, which is now part of the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was a Rotary volunteer, doing cleft lip palate surgery missions to Peru, Guatemala, Venezuela, and China. Phil loved opera and was an active choral singer all his life. His other big interest was soaring in his glider over New England. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and a daughter.
