Debra Ramona Prairie Chief Kodaseet ’78

Debra Ramona Prairie Chief Kodaseet ’78 died on September 9, 2020, in her home in Clinton, Oklahoma. Debra came to Dartmouth from Clinton and lived in Bissell her freshman year. Classmate Chris “Kilof” Legge recalled Debra’s “warmth of spirit.” He met her after arriving from the United Kingdom, shortly after losing his mother and having a doctor tell him he would be blind in 15 years. “I arrived at Dartmouth a scared, lonely insomniac. That is, until I met Debra. I don’t know if we were kindred spirits, but I know we both felt rather alien that first term. We spent hours sharing stories from our very different lives. I experienced my first moments of hope and joy since arriving in the States in her presence.” Debra worked as a deputy court clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for a short time. She is survived by sons Keegan and Cale, daughter Quannah, and six grandchildren.
