For nearly 40 years Waugh, an avid hiker and fiddler, has delighted freshman tripees by emerging from the woods at sunset as they make camp to lead singalongs. “Don’t call them musical raids,” says Waugh. “They’re visitations.” He also played dances at Moosilauke Ravine Lodge for 30 years. “I’m not good at small talk,” says the retired attorney, who lives in Hanover. “I just try and welcome students with music.”
