John Groff Truxal ’45

John Groff Truxal ’45 died February 16, 2007. He came to Dartmouth from Phillips Exeter and Hanover. He was a member of Phi Sigma Psi and in the Navy V-12 program. He then earned a doctor of science in electrical engineering from MIT in 1950. He taught at Purdue and then in 1954 at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. That led to a post as professor of engineering at State University of New York at Stony Brook until retirement. From 1964 to 1969 he served as an overseer at Thayer School. In 1949 he married Doris Mastangelo, who survives with children Brian and Carol. He stated that he divided his time among enjoying his family, working and surviving the “urban crisis.”
