James Francis Houghton ’45, M.D., of Green Valley, Arizona, and Pelican Lake, Minnesota, died of a rare cancer infection June 4. He came to Dartmouth from Lincoln High in Jersey City, New Jersey.

James Francis Houghton ’45, M.D., of Green Valley, Arizona, and Pelican Lake, Minnesota, died of a rare cancer infection June 4. He came to Dartmouth from Lincoln High in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Edward Holmead Harte ’45, a Texas newspaper publishing executive and conservationist who played an important part in preserving vast tracks of open space and stretches of seashore in his state, died of natural causes May 18.
James Robert Grant Jr. ’45 passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in San Diego on May 3. He had come to Dartmouth from West High in Rochester, New York.
Samuel Halcomb Coombs ’44 died on May 21 at the Sedgebrook Health Center in Illinois after a lengthy battle with cancer. During the war years at Dartmouth he taught Navy and Marine enlistees and earned his M.A. in physics.
Harry Clinton Sayre Jr. ’43, M.D., died November 26, 2010, at his home in Warwick, New York. Harry graduated from Warwick High School, where he played both varsity baseball and varsity football.
Herbert Lewis Marx Jr. ’43 died May 31. Herb grew up in Albany, New York, and graduated as an honor student from Milne High School, where he was on the school paper and magazine.
John F. Harvey ’43 died November 29, 2009. John grew up in Maryville, Missouri, and graduated from Maryville High, where he was a member of the student council, band, orchestra, chorus and glee club.
George Raymond Funk ’43 died July 16. Ray grew up in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the local high school, where he was an honor student and played football for three years.
Franklin Benjamin Watters ’41 of Newington, Connecticut, died on May 5, 2010, at the University of Connecticut Medical Center.
Edmund Angelo Tanzi ’41 of Dunnellon, Florida, died on May 11. “Ted” was a native of Hanover. At Dartmouth he was as a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa and the Canoe Club. During WW II he served as an officer in the U.S.
