David L. Dingman ’58

David L. Dingman ’58, M.D., passed away on December 1, 2021. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dave was a Psi Upsilon brother and played hockey and rugby and skied before leaving Dartmouth in 1957 to attend medical school at the University of Michigan. Relocating to Salt Lake, he established a practice in plastic surgery and taught at the University of Utah, where he was honored as Teacher of the Year before retiring in 1993. He was an avid adventurer and mountaineer whose team was the first to scale both of Mount McKinley’s twin peaks in the same day. Later he was part of the first American team to summit Mount Everest and rescued four climbers who had fallen into distress on their descent. Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara, and six children, including Dagny ’02.
