Robert Watson Alvord ’55, Esq., died at home on August 27, 2011. Bob came to Dartmouth from St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. He later served as a trustee at that institution.

David Eaton Elder ’55 died at the Hospice Center of Charleston, South Carolina, on September 9, 2012. Entering the College from Amherst High School, Dave participated in crew and received a degree in modified art (architecture).

Malcolm Robert Balsam ’55 died in Lake Worth, Florida, on May 27, 2011. A non-graduate, he came to Dartmouth from Port Chester (New York) High School and resided his freshman year in Hitchcock.

William Sheldon Bronk ’55

William Sheldon Bronk ’55, M.D., passed away on July 13, 2012, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, Vermont. Bill graduated from Pelham (New York) High School, and subsequent to Dartmouth received his M.D. from Albany Medical College in 1959.

John Allen Rocray ’55, a respected lawyer, died on August 18, 2012, at home in Brattleboro, Vermont. He was a graduate of Winchester (Massachusetts) High School, Hebron Academy and after Dartmouth earned a law degree from Cornell.

Richard Dennis Batchelder ’55 died February 14. Dick entered Dartmouth after graduating from St. John’s Preparatory School, where he was captain of the baseball and basketball teams.

William Hartwell Perry Jr. ’55 died unexpectedly on February 18, 2011, after a visit to England. “Hart” came to Dartmouth from West Newton, Massachusetts. An English major, he participated in freshman and varsity hockey but crew was his favorite.

Albert Frank Petrone ’55 died on August 10, 2010, in his longtime home state of Colorado. Al attended Cathedral High School in Denver before matriculating at Dartmouth. He was a member of Kappa Sigma and the Newman Club and majored in zoology.
