When I first took on the role of class secretary some five or six years ago my predecessor, Richard Hannah (also known at the time as “Sundance”), informed me that the job came with “the gift of prophecy for all things green.” As
The summer before my freshman year at Dartmouth I worked as a bank messenger in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. One of the older messengers, for whom the job had become a career, gave me frequent unsolicited advice.
The roster of past secretaries of our class is both lengthy and distinguished, reflective of the 50 years since our graduation. In that timespan the post has been held by eight scribes, excluding the incumbent.
Even though we’re now at year’s end I would be remiss not to follow up on our wildly successful Homecoming mini-reunion in October.
