Class Note 1938

Issue

Sept - Oct 2009

What more can be said about the class of ’38 men of Dartmouth—the mold has been broken. Talked with my very dear friend Al Wolff. It was so good to hear his voice and spend some time with this gentle and special man. He is well and sends his best regards to classmates. A few years ago, he “took a boat trip to Prague and Budapest—had a fabulous time.” By the time he reads this he will have fond memories of the following: “Leaving this weekend for Fairfield, Connecticut, and spending time with a very dear friend (Goldye).” Al has 10 great-grandchildren and is planning his next trip in the fall to Maine. “Family reunion with my family—I have a grandson coming in from Taiwan and a granddaughter coming from Las Vegas.” Reliving these good times will occupy him through the winter. Think of you often, Al!

It saddens me to report the passing of two classmates: Carl Alton Raymond Jr., who, among other things, was an ardent golfer for more than 80 years, and Dr. Robert Emmett Foley, who, among other things, was a cardiologist at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, subsequently relocated to Boca Raton, Florida. I fondly remember Bob participating in many of our mini-reunions of years past. Our deepest sympathy to both families.

Fall in Hanover…forever in our hearts—know that I am thinking of you.
