Class Note 1971

Class Note 1971. Now that we have recovered from an absolutely wonderful 55th class reunion in Hanover, it’s time to get back to the normal ebb and flow of DAM columns. Several classmates have offered to help me keep up with the comings and goings of our classmates. I do, however, encourage you to follow our online class website, dartmouth71.org, which appears more frequently than the bimonthly Dartmouth Alumni Magazine.
Peter Pratt writes that he “was asked by the Strathmore Arts Foundation, a regional musical powerhouse, to join its board. It is a constant reminder that you always get back more than you give when you volunteer. Marsha and I have since hosted classmates at many Strathmore events, including DavidAylward and his wife, Theresa, to see cellist Yo-Yo Ma and a private Dartmouth D.C. club gathering to see and visit privately with Pilobolus. Any classmates in or visiting D.C. are warmly welcome to join us at Strathmore.”
Jeff McElnea reports that the class raised loud and long applause for Sam Cuddeback at a hot reunion lunch on Tuck lawn when he received the ’71 Kemeny Award. Sam’s dedicated leadership as class projects chair during many years earned him unanimous and well-deserved praise by all reunion goers. He applied his career-long experience as an educator to numerous special projects and had more impact than any class we know, all in the name of Dartmouth ’71.
