Class Note 1991. Ho hey, ’91s!
We’ve got classmate news, book news, and reunion reminders this edition.
Stephanie Crowley sent in the following update, “My husband, Mark, and I recently relocated for the sixth time in our 31 years together: this time to northwest Arkansas. The weather here reminds me quite a lot of New England, and I have dearly missed good thunderstorms (although I’m not nearly as keen on tornado warnings). He continues to work in and around the aviation industry; in addition to teaching yoga online and doing media relations work for performing arts groups, I’ve started a local job monitoring parking at a large corporate campus. It gets me out and riding an e-bike for a good 25 hours per week, and it’s a nice low-key mix of being on my own and interacting with people. I hope at some point to return to the Pacific Northwest, where we still have our townhouse and where our almost-3-year-old granddaughter lives with her parents!”
Chris Parrott (known at Dartmouth as Christine Krause) wrote with news of her forthcoming book, Base Camp Parenting: Worry Less to Help Your Kids More, which will be released by Bloomsbury Press on October 1 and has already received an endorsement from fellow Dartmouth alumna Mel (Schneeberger) Robbins ’90. Chris hopes the book will help spark conversation about the rise of anxiety in our culture and how parents can move away from worry toward practices that help children thrive. Chris would be glad to hear from classmates involved with alumni clubs or book clubs for a virtual author talk or speaker opportunity.
There’s still time to register for our San Francisco mini-reunion on Saturday, October 17! We’ll be gathering at The Battery for a night of food, drinks, music, and great company. All ’91s are welcome, and you’re encouraged to bring a guest! Visit our class website (1991.dartmouth.org) for the registration link. Huge thanks to Neel Chatterjee and George Dunston for getting this organized.
Finally, if you haven’t already, be sure to block off your calendar for our 35th reunion on campus Thursday-Sunday, June 17-20, 2027. Your reunion committee is already in planning mode, and we can’t wait to see everyone back on campus. For the intrepid hikers in our class, you can kick off the festivities on Wednesday night (June 16) at the Mount Moosilauke Lodge with an optional hike up the mountain on Thursday morning led by J.D. Optekar. Note that we’ll be back in our reunion cluster this time, joining up with the classes of 1992 and 1993.
Keep sending in those updates, folks, we love hearing from you.
