Class Note 1999. Happy summer, ’99s!
I hope you’re enjoying the warm weather (for most of us) and finding time to rest and recharge.
Jennifer Anderson writes that she found a new and fulfilling role in the homelessness division at the City of Seattle Human Services Department. Jennifer’s career in international development came to an unexpected close last year—a transition that brought a depth of grief she hadn’t anticipated. She writes, “I’ve been sustained by the many stories of reinvention shared by peers, yet I still miss not only the global community of colleagues but also the deep sense of personal alignment I felt in working to expand access to safe, quality education.” Congratulations, Jennifer!
In other news, I’m pleased to write that our class family has grown! The class of 1999 executive committee recently voted to adopt Marisa Shariadoust as a member of our class. Marisa is a senior director of alumni relations at Dartmouth, and she has spent several years supporting us, including as an integral member of the planning committee for our 25th reunion. Marissa served beyond the scope of her professional role to become a true partner in our class’s success, and she cares deeply for the well-being and connection of our classmates. Please join us in welcoming Marisa as a fellow ’99!
Finally, believe it or not, most of our classmates turn 50 this year. What better way to mark the occasion together than a party? Birthday parties are planned in Hanover, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and many other cities as well as a virtual celebration. If you’d like to help or set up an event where you live, let us know! You can reach us at class.of.1999@dartmouth.edu.
That’s all the news for now! I hope you make the most of summer and I look forward to sharing more updates soon!
