Class Note 1992
Issue
July-August 2026
Class Note 1992. For the better part of two decades our class has checked in with each other online on the 92nd day of the year. Social media has allowed this concept to gain momentum and longevity, but we respect those who choose not to participate in certain channels, so we also accept updates via email. We always compile everyone’s submissions into a newsletter and archive them at 1992.dartmouth.org/news.
A popular theme of 92nd day posts is travel! Maybe the date tends to fall during people’s spring breaks. Here’s a sampling of locations our classmates were visiting on April 2.
Indira Narine Thomas: Marbella, Spain; Todd Gorman: Les Gorges de Dades in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco; Dan Farber: Cleveland, Ohio; Jon Rettmann: the Wapta Yoho Icefields Traverse in the Canadian Rockies; Bonnie Hartmann Couture: Manhattan, N.Y.C.; Lynne Schiffman: Italy; Johnette Kao Johnson (with Alison Pratt Schneider!): Switzerland and Italy; Becca Sullivan Volker: Bergamo, Italy; Lisa Henrich: Tampa; Elissa Aten: Long Beach, California; Doug Miniati (with Joshua Stein and Brad Johnson!): the Russian River at Healdsburg, California; Christine Griffith-Legette: Toronto, Canada; Patricia Gagnon: Rhode Island; Katherine Aires Byrnes: San Diego; Kenta Takamori, David Roberts, and Tyrone Rachal (all traveling separately!): Japan.
And we are always just as happy to hear about your mundane, everyday activities on the 92nd day. That said, this time we have some prizewinners to report.
Cathleen Caron was a well-deserved honoree of the 2026 Social Justice Awards, which Dartmouth bestows upon individuals and organizations that have made exceptional efforts to promote awareness, understanding, community, or inclusion through consistent action for the common good. At the May 20 ceremony the College awarded Cathleen the Lester B. Granger, Class of 1918, Award, which recognizes alumni whose lifelong commitment to public service has been exemplary. Granger Award recipients have exhibited leadership and innovation in meeting community needs and benefiting an underserved population. Cathleen is the founder and executive director of Justice in Motion, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting migrant rights across borders. She has more than 20 years of human rights experience in the United States and abroad.
On a much smaller scale (they filled out a form and got lucky, but hey, they get prizes from the Co-op), congrats to our March Madness bracket victors! The overall winners were Sammy Desai, Jesse Bradley, and Gray Fleming (men’s tournament) and Jesse (women’s tournament)! The Final Four leaders were Kellyann MacLean and Brant Rose (men’s) and Cally Bybee (women’s). And the Sweet 16 leaders were Brant, Kellyann, and Gray (men’s) and Jesse (women’s). We thank Matt Caldwell for organizing the festivities and swag once again!
If you’re interested in running a similar ’92 camaraderie experience, email us and we’ll put you in touch with our class vice president for community, Elissa Aten, who can support your efforts!
One last thing! Interested in sharing your thoughts or volunteering to help with our 30th reunion (June 17-20, 2027)? Email d92reunion@gmail.com!
